  • Empire Estate New York State Yarn

Domestically produced from sheep to skein in New York State. The wool was produced and sourced from Elly's Acres Farms in Jamesville, spun at Battenkill Fibers in Greenwich, and hand dyed by Megs & Co in Fairport. Part of the NYS Grown & Certified program and a great way to support domestic and local wool! Empire Estate Yarn carries a charming, rustic touch of authenticity, with tiny whispers of hay and bits of vegetable material spun gently into its fibers. These natural inclusions remind you of its origins, evoking visions of sun-dappled fields and the peaceful rhythm of countryside life. It’s more than just yarn—it’s a connection to the earth, a cozy embrace of nature's imperfections that tell a story of hand-sheared wool and old-world craftsmanship. Perfect for those who love the simple beauty of rural living, this yarn invites you to create pieces that feel organic, grounded, and beautifully tied to the pastoral landscape. Designed with garments in mind, Empire Estate Yarn is ideal for a variety of projects including pullovers, cardigans, hats, mittens, and scarves.

  • Made in New York Bed Pillow

What's in our Made in NY Wool Bed Pillows?  Each standard size pillow is filled with two pounds of wool from sheep grazing on land right here in New York State.  With our Made in NY Wool Bed Pillows, you'll enjoy sleeping on a natural fill pillow and supporting local farms and businesses.

The sheep are gently sheared by experienced shearers on the farm.  After cleaning, the wool is carded twice at Green Fleece Fiber Mill in Castleton, NY.  At the mill we make a wooly bolus (little bits of felted wool) that works well in pillows.  While the cleaning and carding removes the vast majority of hay, you may find some plant matter in the wool.

We fill our standard size Made in NY Wool Bed Pillows with 2 lbs of our wooly bolus/batting mix, which creates a warm and comfortable sleep environment.

We use only GOTS certified organic cotton muslin fabric for the pillow covers.  It makes a perfect combination for people who want a natural pillow created without the use of pesticides or chemicals.

  • 4 Oz Fluffy Wool Stuffing

We asked our local batting mill to create a loose wool we can use for stuffing.  We could not be more pleased with the resultsi! We use our Fluffy Wool Stuffing to stuff lots of things like stuffed animals, pillows, etc.

We even used our local wool stuffing to fill our Emotional Support Chickens at a knit-along at CeCe's Wool and they came out great! Best of all, we only needed 100 grams (4 oz), not the recommended 250 grams (8 oz) described in the Emotional Support Chicken pattern by Annette Corsino. Wool fiber is stronger and the fibers are larger and more filling than polyester, which is why you need less.

Why use wool?  It's natural, sustainable, renewable and biodegradable. Our wool comes from local sheep farms. It is cleaned with biodegradable soap and hot water, and a local batting mill cards it into fluffy batting. Wool is an amazing fiber that has many characteristics - it's anti-microbial, anti-bacterial, has natural fire retardant properties and discourages dust mites.

This listing is for 100 grams (4 oz). Our wool is very clean but you will find an occasional bit of hay or plant debris.
