Woodstock Weavers 50th Anniversary Exhibit of Contemporary & Vintage Handwovens

April 30 - June 12

On the occasion of its 50th Anniversary, the Woodstock Weavers guild presents, in cooperation with the Historical Society of Woodstock, an exhibit of contemporary and vintage handwoven items, with demonstrations of weaving, at the HSW Eames House, 20 Comeau Drive, Woodstock. The exhibit runs from April 30 – June 12, 2022. Regular hours are Saturdays and Sundays from 1:00 -5:00 pm, with an opening reception on April 30 at 2:00. Some items will be available for sale as well.

Guild members will demonstrate all aspects of weaving, from handspinning and dyeing yarn, to “dressing” a loom, weaving, and finishing. A loom will be set up for weaving by the public and other hands-on activities are planned over the course of seven weekends. Weaving demonstrations will include a variety of looms — floor/jack, inkle, rigid heddle, backstrap, and twigs.

Specific demonstrations and activities are posted HERE. This schedule is subject to change; it is updated as changes are made.

The Woodstock Weavers guild fosters interest in hand weaving and textile arts as exemplified by Berta Frey (1893-1972), a well-known and influential textile artist, instructor, and author. She lived and taught in Woodstock during the 1960’s and the guild was founded in 1972 in her memory.

The Woodstock Weavers meets in Kingston. In addition to regular monthly meetings, the guild has sponsored workshops, exhibits, sales, and other activities over its 50 year history.

The Historical Society of Woodstock’s mission is to preserve, interpret, and share the unique history of Woodstock.
